Tribulation Force

September 7

“Go and cry unto the gods which ye have chosen; let them deliver you in the time of your tribulation."  Judges 10:14

"Dance with the one what brung ya ..."

'Dance with the one what brung ya' ... will probably not be the exact phrase uttered by GOD from HIS throne of final judgment; but the gist of that statement is the theological moral to today's verse.  The impenitent fool dreams of waltzing into Heaven with his false gods of sin, but it shall never be!  "I am crucified with CHRIST ..." Everybody wants a god they can live with; but few, JESUS said, would choose the ONE they can die with.  Shock is far too mild a term, for those who'll discover that there is no exchange counter at death's threshold for the gods which are unable to lift them over sin's penalty.  "And this is life eternal, that they might know THEE the only true GOD, and JESUS CHRIST, WHOM THOU hast sent."  Yet in spite of this harsh fact, many a Hell bound person has their arm slammed in death's door trying to make that last second swap.  After all, what sinner enjoying his\her sin, wouldn't want a god of their own device who'll accept a piece of raw meat in the place of repentance?  JEHOVAH, though, insists upon the latter as acknowledgement of the price HE paid for personal and safe passage to Heaven.  "HE restoreth my soul: HE leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for HIS NAME'S sake.  Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for THOU art with me; THY rod and THY staff they comfort me ... Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever."  It is the ONE true GOD of the Bible alone WHO is able to cross through death to our side, redeem us, and then safely escort us back across the "valley" to live eternally with HIM in glory.

"Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of GOD."  Is the god (GOD) of your choosing able to deliver you from sin's destructive force?  Tribulation is a staple of life below, however, a time of Great Tribulation looms unmistakable on the horizon of damnation.  "But where are thy gods that thou hast made thee? let them arise, if they can save thee in the time of thy trouble: ..."  The liberty to choose your god is yours; but the consequence of that decision is built in and irrevocable.

"Ephraim is joined to idols: let him alone."

"Our duty as a people, with devout reverence and affectionate gratitude, to acknowledge our many and great obligations to ALMIGHTY GOD, and implore HIM to continue and confirm the blessings we experienced."
