The Round Trip

September 27

I will go and return ... for then was it better with me than now."  Hosea 2:7

"... the LORD created the former to tunnel, and the latter in omni."

When GOD cared to send the very best, HE gave HIS only begotten SON.  Thus having accepted: not the good, not the better, but the best; even the slightest deviation in our walk with HIM results in a step backward in the Christian's life.  "I will go and return to MY place, till they acknowledge their offence, and seek MY face: in their affliction they will seek ME early."  Once that deviant path is embarked upon, the distance between us and the LORD quickly turns exponential; and before we know it, HE is out of sight spiritually.  Woe be to that one who has gone after the green grass of sin's pleasure for a season, to discover him\herself now foundered, with no glance of GOD on any horizon.

"I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee, ..."  Some would have us to believe that from willful sin back to the SAVIOR, is a short trip, but that is just not true.  The 'Yellow Brick Road' of regret is long and steep; and there are no ruby slippers and a shallow chant to help us return.  No ... it will demand the prayerful and deliberate effort of motion on our part.  If you find yourself in the swine lot of sin, you got there by personal choice; and it will require the personal repentance of that previous choosing to begin the return home.  The catch is, of course, the Devil never sells round trip tickets to sin.

"But let the righteous be glad; let them rejoice before GOD: yea, let them exceedingly rejoice."  Do you find yourself musing and\or longing for the "better" times of the past ... in the very midst of the best times GOD has to offer?  Truly, the Christian, right with GOD, should find the present so satisfyingly fulfilling, the future so bright and promising, that the past holds no allure whatsoever.  "Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before ..."  Sight is one of the dearest gifts of GOD; but perception is so rare as to be precious.  Perhaps there is wisdom in the fact that the LORD created the former to tunnel, and the latter in omni.

"Keep yourselves in the love of GOD, looking for the mercy of our LORD JESUS CHRIST unto eternal life.

"I know men; and I tell you that JESUS CHRIST is not a man.  Superficial minds see a resemblance between CHRIST and the founders of empires, and the gods of other religions.  That resemblance does not exist."
