Saint Shaker

September 16

To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:"   Ecclesiastes 3:1

"Lot's wife ... lives in Biblical infamy as a testament of what not to keep on your table."

Are you a 'seasoned' saint ... sanctified to HIS shaker, that HE might dispense you at HIS pleasure and for HIS purpose?  "Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his saltness, wherewith will ye season it? Have salt in yourselves, and have peace one with another."  It is said of some that he\she is of salty character; and that is all well and good, if your salt is derived of Scripture and the application of it.  Remember though, the shaker must remain in HIS hand, not yours.  How indiscriminate we can easily become, when we take, and shake our salt separate from HIM.  The LORD never throws salt in others eyes, HE sprinkles a bit here, a bit there, and always to season, never to overwhelm.  Ever had the top come off of your shaker over the plate of food you're about to eat?  Of equal excess is the Christian who insists on throwing his own salt around.  "Ye are the salt of the earth:"  Whether the shaker be without top or empty, both extremes are useless to the SAVIOR.  Job asks: "Can that which is unsavoury be eaten without salt? or is there any taste in the white of an egg?"  The fool's salt of self will do no good here either; it looks real enough, but is bland; good for the path, but not for the plate.  "... but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men."  Lot's wife was so full of this variety, that she lives in Biblical infamy as a testament of what not to keep on your table.  "But his wife looked back ... and she became a pillar of salt."

Are you hunting GOD out of season?  "And as he reasoned of righteousness, temperance, and judgment to come Felix trembled, and answered, go thy way for this time; when I have a convenient season, I will call for thee."  According to the Scripture, most are, filling their shakers with the salt of sin and self-righteousness, deceiving themselves that they will taste just fine to the LORD when HE tries them.  Of greater deception is the lie of the Devil, that in the final season, at your convenience, you can trade yours in for HIS.

"Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of GOD, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season; ..."

"No purpose of action against religion can be imputed to any legislation, state or national, because this is a religious people.  This is historically true.  From the discovery of this continent to the present hour, there is a single voice making this affirmation."

(Church of the Holy Trinity v. United States, 1892)
