Stranded By The SAVIOR

October 18

“And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken."  Ecclesiastes 4:12

"You'll recall that Satan came to Eve while she was by herself ..."

Going it alone is peaceful and quiet; but also unproductive and outright dangerous spiritually.  "When you want something done right, do it yourself" ... is a life verse many hold to, but found nowhere in the Bible.  You'll recall that Satan came to Eve while she was by herself; and when he wanted to undo GOD'S eternal, redemptive plan, he came to JESUS while HE was sequestered and fasting out in the wilderness.  Job, the Old Testament king of trial, was left of the Devil to fend off his accusers by himself.  Judas was used solitarily by Satan as well, when he was lured into betraying the LORD unto those who would crucify HIM.

"And the LORD GOD said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him."  From our earliest days, HE WHO made us recognized our need for companionship.  When GOD reset during the flood of Genesis, Noah's Ark carried an even number on its manifest.  When the Moabites threatened to stop Israel cold on the east banks of the Jordon, Aaron and Hur came to Moses' aid.  David, as king anointed, was on the run and GOD sent Jonathon to abet his calling.  "Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong ..."  Daniel didn't go single into Babylonian captivity, but with three others, who collectively and courageously stood against the whole world of their day.  "After these things the LORD appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two before HIS face into every city and place, whither HE HIMSELF would come."  In the New Testament, when JESUS wanted to turn a world sinking in sin upside down, HE chose twelve, and later seventy; always divisible by a multiple of two, save Judas.  "... bind the sacrifice with cords, even unto the horns of the altar."  And still today, HE is busy binding the cord of HIS church into a lifeline, strong enough to pull the damned from their destiny before it is too late.

Is the single strand of your life being bound by the SAVIOR with others?  In all that the LORD wishes to accomplish in and through us, the moral of the Biblical model is that there is strength in numbers.

"And the word of GOD increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied ..."
