The Rendering

October 10

“What shall I render unto the LORD for all his benefits toward me?"  Psalms 116:12

"JESUS CHRIST is not a religious loan to repay ..."

How quickly we forget ... is a definite understatement regarding the benefits of the LORD toward us.  JESUS CHRIST is the ONE real gift which keeps on giving.  "Blessed be the LORD, WHO daily loadeth us with benefits, even the GOD of our salvation. Selah."  Sadly, most Christians suffer an acute case of long term memory loss, with short term symptoms, and it shows!  "Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all HIS benefits:"  What a worthy goal of life it is though, to continually ponder, to render something unto the LORD as an expression of reciprocal love.

"... the gift of GOD is eternal life through JESUS CHRIST our LORD."  A gift always comes with the price tag removed or hidden, thus it be a huge misnomer to think that we somehow owe GOD.  It is scandalous to even think that the cost of HIS precious SON could ever be calculated out to pay back in part or full; but that is the exact amortization proposed by all the world's major religions, including apostate Christianity.  JESUS CHRIST is not a religious loan to repay, but a redemptive gift to receive.  Fret not about this, for once HE is sincerely embraced by you in faith, there will be no guile in the rendering you bring to HIM.

With this understood, there are some sacrifices which HE does seek of us:

  • A real and personal, spiritual bankruptcy: "The sacrifices of GOD are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O GOD, THOU wilt not despise."

  • A literal, and daily funeral of self: "I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of GOD, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto GOD, which is your reasonable service."

  • A selfless life of service toward others: "I am full, having received of Epaphroditus the things which were sent from you, an odour of a sweet smell, a sacrifice acceptable, wellpleasing to GOD."

Think of these acceptable renderings as the three legs of the Christian stool, able to hold you up, as you render up, to the greatest BENEFACTOR  creation has ever known.

"By HIM therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to GOD continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to HIS NAME."

For Love of Country

(American Revolutionary leader)
"If life is so dear, or peace so sweet, as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery?  Forbid it, ALMIGHTY GOD!  I know not what course others may take; but as for me, give me liberty or give me death!"
