The Genesis of Gratitude

November 26

“Giving thanks always for all things unto GOD and the FATHER in the NAME of our LORD JESUS CHRIST;”  Ephesians 5:20

“The Bible knows nothing of the self-esteem cult so widely promulgated …”

Ingratitude is really a denial of, and slap to, the very face of CHRIST.  “Because that, when they knew GOD, they glorified him not as GOD, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.”  To be unthankful is to drink from the fountainhead of all of sin’s vanity.  But you don’t know what I am going through … true enough; but in your pitiful state of proud introspection, neither do you!  “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love GOD, to them who are the called according to HIS purpose.”  Has it occurred to you that GOD might just have a plan and purpose for your life which extends beyond that nose of yours?  Why do you treat HIM as if HE is grate, rather than great?  Either you accept the notion that HE is the Conductor and Engineer of all lot and circumstance, or you must take the track of the practical atheist.  The Bible knows nothing of the self-esteem cult so widely promulgated out in our world today; and it is the purchase of that doctrinal dung which has gratitude held at such a low ebb in your life.

“By HIM therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to GOD continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to HIS NAME.”  JESUS CHRIST is the mediator between GOD and man in more than just salvation; HE is the bridge to every communiqué in either direction.  “And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the NAME of the LORD JESUS, giving thanks to GOD and the FATHER by HIM.”  Were it not for HIM, our past would be haunting, our present despair, and our future hellish; but thanks be to GOD, WHO gave HIS SON to redeem all of that!  “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other NAME under Heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.”  That BABE of Bethlehem grew to become the poster CHILD for all that thanksgiving is.  How could any other NAME even be considered as the genesis of gratitude?

“In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of GOD in CHRIST JESUS concerning you.”  Whether it be “in”, or “for” all things, gratitude is in order to any who know HIM and possess the humility to believe that HE is after our ultimate good, and HIS deserved glory.

“I will bless the LORD at all times; HIS praise shall continually be in my mouth”

"The principles of life as taught in the Bible, the inspired Word, and exemplified in the matchless life of HIM 'WHO spake as never man spake,' are the rules of moral action which have resulted in civilizing the world."
