The Hart of  the Matter

November 14

"As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after THEE, O GOD."  Psalms 42:1

"How parched are you in your day to day walk with GOD?"

How parched are you in your day to day walk with GOD?  If your answer is little, or even none at all, the best comfort you can draw from that, is the high percentile of professing Christendom you find yourself in.  "O GOD, THOU art my GOD; early will I seek THEE: my soul thirsteth for THEE, my flesh longeth for THEE in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;"    Where are the Christians who pine about on their hands and knees?  Where is the desperate hand of  the 3rd timer's, who are drowning in the sea of decadence?  "I stretch forth my hands unto THEE: my soul thirsteth after THEE..."  Perhaps the reason saints have evolved from their knees to walk upright is that somewhere we began to view our world as a mirage of materialism, rather than the desert of sin that it is.  To further complicate our predicament, the brunt of our vast network of steepled venues have become little more than fitness centers of faith.  Here, the faithful find all their hearts desire to pamper and provide.  Our buildings are flush with the tables of our wares, but bereft of HIS presence to turn them over!  Inside is all the soothing enlightenment of spiritism; but little of the old fashioned SPIRIT filled preaching, employed by the Word to cut to revival.  Within is the ceaseless activity which never breaks an eternal sweat, mere treadmills of truth aligned beneath the fans, and within easy reach of the lukewarm water fountain.  And while we camp comfortably in the oasis of HIS grace, the field of HIS harvest lies ripe, and largely unattended.  "Whom have I in heaven but THEE? and there is none upon earth that I desire beside THEE."  Have our desires become so diversified, that in reality they are now to HIS exclusion?

"JESUS answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: but whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst ..."  What quenches your thirst?  "Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye ..."  With the waters of eternal life flowing so abundant and free, why would anyone pass up this artesian of saving faith.  To the dismay of any of us who have drank however, whole parades pass by like zombies to go just beyond, and purchase instead, the bottled elixir of the Devil with the price of their eternal soul.

"For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, and floods upon the dry ground: I will pour MY SPIRIT upon thy seed, and MY blessing upon thine offspring:"
