Simple Tragedy

March 28

“A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself; but the simple pass on, and are punished."  Proverbs 27:12

"Foresight must have a headlight to successfully navigate ..."

Hindsight is said to be 20/20, and regarding temporal and insignificant issues, I suppose it is of some benefit.  The meaningful things of this life however are far less forgiving, with hindsight serving only as a painful reminder of what could have been; and eternal matters raising that hindsight bar to excruciating levels.  If JESUS is to be believed, "many" will live their lives in the dark and pass from this life blind.  "The simple believeth every word: but the prudent man looketh well to his going."  Oh the masses, who buy the snake oil of smooth talking cultists, and step through the veil of death with eyes wide open, but one second too late.  You'll recall that the infamous rich man passed on to eternity in his simplicity; and awoke with a perfect rearview in the punishment of hell (cf. Luke 16:19-31).

"THY word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path."  Foresight must have a headlight to successfully navigate in a world darkened by evil.  "For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life:"  Given the immutability of GOD, the prudent person wagers on HIM remaining true to HIS word: "We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place ..."  Yet, in spite of an all sufficient 66 volume eye chart, simple multitudes still pass on, and are punished: "In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not GOD, and that obey not the gospel of our LORD JESUS CHRIST: Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the LORD, and from the glory of HIS power;"

JESUS died for sin that: "The blind receive their sight ...".  Eventually, all eyes will open, either now in foresight to CHRIST, or later in the hindsight of hell when willful blindness is forever sanctioned!  The latter is a simple tragedy given the salve of saving grace presently and freely dispensed to all.

"The LORD is not slack concerning HIS promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance."

Calvin Coolidge  (1872-1933)
(30th President of the United States)
"America seeks no empires built on blood and force.  No ambition, no temptation, lures her to thought of foreign dominion.  The legions which she sends forth are armed, not with the sword, but with the Cross.  The higher state to which she seeks the allegiance of all mankind is not human, but of DIVINE origin.  She cherishes no purpose, save to merit the favor of ALMIGHTY GOD."
