Living Out as a Limb

March 20

“But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king's meat, ..."  Daniel 1:8

"... loving GOD through is living faith out ..."

Do you understand with Daniel that: "... ye are the temple of GOD, and that the SPIRIT of GOD dwelleth in you?  If any man defile the temple of GOD, him shall GOD destroy; for the temple of GOD is holy, which temple ye are."  GOD hath given unto every man, woman, and child the primary and divine purpose that: "Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of GOD."  Of interest to the student is that Daniel, when tried, did not hold a resolve, he had a purpose.  Resolve is innate and self-centered, purpose is imputed and CHRIST-centered.  Resolve is an exercise of the mind, purpose an extension of a heart for GOD.  The former is cognitive, the latter cardio.  Thinking things through ends in death, "There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death."; loving GOD through is living faith out, and thus dead to all else, including the collateral consequence incurred from those who are less than GOD.  In spite of its lofty place among men, common sense is a curse in the Church, and merits no favor whatsoever in Heaven.  Daniel did not make up his mind, GOD made up his heart.

Are you a purposed individual?  Do you comprehend the purpose of GOD ... "WHO hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to HIS own purpose and grace, which was given us in CHRIST JESUS before the world began, ... For this purpose the SON of GOD was manifested, that HE might destroy the works of the devil."

The entirety of Daniel is the testimony of a man who had mastered death and embraced the purpose of GOD.  In the eyes of the purposeless and defiled, he lived out on a limb.  More accurately though, Daniel had tapped into the ROOT and become himself a limb of life to all in his day who would come under the shade of his GOD fearing testimony.

"Abide in ME, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in ME."

United States Supreme Court (1948)
(McCollum v. Board of Education)

"Traditionally, organized education in the Western world was Church education.  It could hardly be otherwise when the education of children was primarily study of the Word and the ways of GOD.  Even in the Protestant countries, where there was a less close identification of Church and State, the basis of education was largely the Bible, and its chief purpose inculcation of piety ..."
