Placebos of Pleasure

June 21

"I said in mine heart, go to now, I will prove thee with mirth, therefore enjoy pleasure: and, behold, this also is vanity."   Ecclesiastes 2:1

"GOD is the principle stockholder of humanity ..."

Self talk is a most diabolical thing to engage in, for: "The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?  When one has cut off all communication ties with Heaven, a flattering, but deadly quorum of 'me, myself, and I', convenes in the vacuum.  "And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry."  In the boardroom of the heart, there is not merely a consensus, but an insidious unanimity, which is circular and whirlpool in its effect.

Decisions made apart from GOD, go on gut, and they always appear that way when viewed from the end.  A heart let go, quickly turns to license; framing some of the more delusional, and tragic decisions of life and eternity: "The fool hath said in his heart, there is no GOD. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works ..."  Fill the void of your sin sick heart with all the placebos of pleasure this sin sick world has to offer; and one day you too will sit inside Vain, Inc., and cast your vote with Solomon, that this also is vanity.  "Rejoice, O young man, in thy youth; and let thy heart cheer thee in the days of thy youth, and walk in the ways of thine heart, and in the sight of thine eyes: but know thou, that for all these things GOD will bring thee into judgment."  By virtue of creation, GOD is the principle stockholder of humanity; and given HIS investment, you can rest assured that every reckless manager will one day give an account.  "So then every one of us shall give account of himself to GOD."

Dear friend, to succeed as a Christian, you must vote yourself out, give it all to GOD; for only then will the corporate direction and worth of your life go up, and that, exponentially.

"Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.  In all thy ways acknowledge HIM, and HE shall direct thy paths."

"Can there be any doubt, hearing these echoes from the culture, that a great Civil War of values is being waged in the Western nations, or that radical anti-family forces are making dramatic alterations in the way we think and act?"
