Cloak and Dagger

June 15

"If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no cloke for their sin."   John 15:22

"To suggest that GOD keeps HIS Word is an inestimable understatement ..."

The error of all ages must surely be to perceive GOD as having character like unto us.  At the essence of HIS BEING is truth, and only the fool turned river-boater, gambles on this.  "He that rejecteth ME, and receiveth not MY words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day."  It is fancy to state: 'GOD says it, I believe it, that settles it' ... but the fact is, that if GOD says it, that settles it, whether you believe it or not!  What a lofty position all the self appointed arbiters of GOD'S Word will eventually tumble from.  "... for THOU hast magnified THY word above all THY NAME."  To suggest that GOD keeps HIS Word is an inestimable understatement; for JEHOVAH HIMSELF holds what HE says above even WHO HE is.

"If I had not done among them the works which none other man did, they had not had sin: but now have they both seen and hated both ME and MY FATHER."  Nothing fuels hatred for GOD in a sinner's heart, like HIS irrefutability.  Creation teems with HIS handiwork, while conscience screams with HIS holiness; and like as Eden, there is no place to hide.  "What shall we do to these men? for that indeed a notable miracle hath been done by them ... and we cannot deny it."  Entire people groups are still franticly trying to cloak their denial of HIM and HIS in everything from race, to religion, to the most raucous vice; and yet HIS work among us today is as irrefragable as ever.  "Then those men, when they had seen the miracle that JESUS did, said, this is of a truth that PROPHET that should come into the world."

"... out of HIS mouth went a sharp twoedged sword:"  The dagger of the DIVINE is the death nil to the cloak of the carnal.  "He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy."  CHRIST, by HIS SPIRIT, blows through the gardens of our lives, stripping every fig leaf bare, to then ask: "where art thou?"  For all who insist to the end, standing like Adam in their naked defiance, Peter offers this caveat:

"For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them."

"America was founded by people who believed that GOD was their rock of safety.  I recognize we must be cautious in claiming that GOD is on our side, but I think it's all right to keep asking if we're on HIS side."
