The No Faint Saint

June 13

"For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us."   Romans 8:18

"The SAVIOR is never any sweeter than when the saint is suffering ..."

'The SAVIOR is never any sweeter than when the saint is suffering' ... should be under 'S', in the Axioms of Spiritual Soliloquies; but in this welfare age in which we live, reckoning the cost and value of anything has become moot at best amidst a church invested in the 'Health & Wealth' gospel so widely promulgated.

"But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of CHRIST'S sufferings; that, when HIS glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy."  While Scripture does devote a measurable sum to the ministry of misery; it still begs why to the true child of GOD who has learned to embrace it.  "But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy ..."  Oswald Chambers, the great old preacher that he was, rightly noted that discouragement in the believer, is nothing more than good old fashioned personal disenchantment.  When discovered, one must conduct the dirge of sin and self as the only cure for what ails you (cf. 1 Corinthians 15:31).

"I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living."  Where is the saint who won't faint; the sinner who knows HE'S a winner once forgiven of CHRIST JESUS?  What has happened to the grit that won't quit, when trials turn into piles?

"And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto MYSELF; that where I am, there ye may be also."  The GROOM has proposed, and betrothed us to HIMSELF; therefore, it seems entirely reasonable that HE would take a personal interest in the preparations of HIS bride.  The hymn writer suggests: 'It will be worth it all, when we see JESUS, life's trials will seem so small, when we see CHRIST ...'; but may it be reckoned of us who hold to the right wedding march, that HE is worth it all here and now as well.

"That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of JESUS CHRIST:"

For Love of Country

(American historian and author)
"These fundamental objects of the Constitution are in perfect harmony with the revealed objects of the Christian religion ..."
