"For GOD is my record ..."  Philippians 1:8

"... confidence ... can then distill itself into a contagion of persuasion"

It is an awesome thing to consider that our every thought, intent, and deed is recorded, and preserved in the annals of Heaven.  "And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before GOD; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works."  As infallible as GOD HIMSELF, are those records; and kept to be revealed in the last day as an indictment against all who would not obey the gospel, and be saved from their condemning content.

There are many today, though, who would say: 'I'll be alright, I know my heart, and the way I take will end well'.  But that is no good, for the Bible states that: "The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?"  Only the CREATOR is able to objectively judge whether we are, or whether we are not, in the way of salvation as a sinner, or on the way of sanctification as a saint.  "But HE knoweth the way that I take: when HE hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold."  The record is clear however, that unless one's way is perfectly aligned with what HE has recorded as right in the Scripture, the odds predicting your devastating loss in the not too distant future, are insurmountable.

"Now the things which I write unto you, behold, before GOD, I lie not."
It is either the height of ignorance, arrogance, or confidence, which would call the ALMIGHTY to testify on your behalf.  Assuming the latter has settled the case against conscience, confidence in HIS finished work on the cross, can then distill itself into a contagion of persuasion to all within your sphere of influence.  "For GOD is my witness, WHOM I serve with my spirit in the gospel of his SON ..."  While it is true that GOD looks upon the heart, and thus there is nothing to prove to HIM; the courts of human opinion are flush with cynicism and suspicion.  No judgment is withheld there, and one is assumed a liar until proven authentic.  With that understood, the verdict can be swung by the one who walks his talk as readily as he calls GOD to the stand.

"But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of GOD deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of GOD."

For Love of Country
Martin Van Buren  (1782-1862)
(8th President of the United States)
"I only look to the gracious protection of that DIVINE BEING WHOSE strengthening support I humbly solicit, and WHOM I fervently pray to look down upon us all.  May it be among the dispensations of HIS Providence to bless our beloved country with honors and length of days; may her ways be pleasantness, and all her paths peace."
