GOD Tracks

July 24

"And they entered in, and found not the body of the LORD JESUS."  Luke 24:3

"Where is the body?"

Just who (WHO) are you tracking by trekking about the terrestrial?  Clever question, but there are millions in the two millennia since Joseph of Arimathaea laid JESUS to rest who have come to see the same nothing.  While that spot on a Judean hillside undoubtedly provides some measure of affirmation; if one is to truly pay his respects to CHRIST, he\she will have to visit HIS Throne, not HIS tomb.  It occurs to me that all who spend vacation time and valuable resource riding buses about the land of HIS nativity, could raise their inspiration level exponentially, by a visit to the true Home of GOD, via the Kneebone Express.  Even good men, from Daniel, to Ezekiel, to John, who have been privy to HIS real abode, have all tried in vain to express what they saw, when granted a glimpse of the place where HE went upon departing from here.  "And when HE had spoken these things, while they beheld, HE was taken up; and a cloud received HIM out of their sight."  What transformation the marketeers of religious jewelry could offer us, if only they could rightly fashion a Throne-i-fix.

"HE is not here, but is risen: ..."  Since the conclusion of the first Passion Week, that empty tomb has been the Waterloo of every agnostic and the gnawing frustration of every atheist. Where is the body? ... is the missing link of all who will one day miss Heaven!  Scripture clearly records the murder of the MESSIAH, but without the body, all of man's investigations are inconclusive; and the case regarding their alleged VICTIM, has become the crux of humanity's hung jury.  Of further evidence to the deep animosity in the chamber over the absence of the body, is the willingness to vindicate the guilty, and prosecute the deceased.  What impenetrable darkness resides in the courts of men!  Would that Pilate had a 'tomb-cam' at his disposal that blessed Sunday when JESUS arose; in the stead of those mentally challenged Romans to guard HIM.  That would have cleared everything up ... or would it?  Shockwaves ... is too mild a term, for the scene of the sacrilegious courtroom; when, reminiscent of a good Perry Mason, the missing WITNESS returns to resolve the case against HIM, which has been held in contempt for centuries by fools.

The trek of the track must end at the knee for now, but abide in patient faith, for soon we who know HIM shall rise to greet HIM.

"And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as HE went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same JESUS, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen HIM go into heaven."

John William Jones  (1836-1909)
(Chaplain, Army of Northern Virginia)
"Any history of this army which omits an account of the wonderful influence of religion upon it -- which fails to tell how the courage, discipline, and morale was influenced by humble piety and evangelical zeal of many of its officers and men -- would be incomplete and unsatisfactory."
