Half Makes a Hole

July 16

"Howbeit I believed not the words, until I came, and mine eyes had seen it: and, behold, the half was not told me: thy wisdom and prosperity exceedeth the fame which I heard."  1 Kings 10:7

"There are no 'rainy days' in a relationship with JESUS"

Perhaps the greatest surprise of Heaven will not be the expanse, or the expense, but the extent of what JESUS CHRIST has prepared for HIS own.  "But as it is written, eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which GOD hath prepared for them that love HIM."  The kings of this world hold their cards close, but not so with the KING OF KINGS.  "Oh how great is THY goodness, which THOU hast laid up for them that fear THEE; which THOU hast wrought for them that trust in THEE before the sons of men!"  Were the eyes of our new man not incarcerated in this body of death; what wondrous things we would behold, and what life altering power would be the motivation of our vision.

"It is finished ..."  When HE gave, HE gave it all!  There has never been a half-hearted effort known to GOD.  HE gave all HIS love, all HIS life, all HIS blood; to redeem all who would call upon the all finished work of HIS SON.  "... but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the HOLY GHOST sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into."  It is normal for the child of GOD to pine a little for Heaven; but truly, HIS greatest work is still focused here on Earth.  Set your head in the clouds, but keep your feet on the ground; and here busy yourself to fulfill HIS Great Commission.  Is your Christian life, your ministry, your church, causing angels to hang over the side of Glory in wonder and astonishment?

"And Zacchaeus stood, and said unto the LORD; behold, LORD, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken any thing from any man by false accusation, I restore him fourfold."  What is it that you are holding back for?  Zacchaeus had a good starting point; but the LORD is not after a percentage of the whole, but the sum of the percentages.  There are no 'rainy days' in a relationship with JESUS; nothing for which to save that reserve.  Go on more gladly, spend and be spent in the sweet assurance that your own personal 'kenosis' will: "... fill up that which is behind of the afflictions of CHRIST in my flesh for HIS body's sake, which is the church:"

"And I will very gladly spend and be spent ..."
