Will of the Last Testament

January 12

“… for this is the will of GOD in CHRIST JESUS concerning you.”  1 Thessalonians 5:18

“… the Bible is relatively simple when it comes to discovering what HE wants”

Though we often view the will of GOD as being as elusive as the rainbow’s pot … it is not.  Our thoughts aside, the Bible is relatively simple when it comes to discovering what HE wants of our lives.  With nothing more than prayer and a concordance, anyone who wishes to, may find HIS will in HIS last Testament.  I offer the following as a shortcut to your own personal treasure hunt for HIS best in you:

  1. HIS will begins with a blood kinship to HIM, else HIS will in all else exclude us: “The LORD … is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”

  2. HIS will is inextricable from HIS SPIRIT WHO indwells us: “And HE that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the SPIRIT, because HE maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of GOD.”

  3. HIS will is born out in the sacrifice of selflessness: “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of GOD, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto GOD, which is your reasonable service.  And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of GOD.”

  4. HIS will holds no tolerance toward hypocricy: “Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of CHRIST, doing the will of GOD from the heart”

  5. HIS will is our personal holiness: “For this is the will of GOD, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication:”

  6. HIS will is an attitude of gratitude … in all things: “In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of GOD …”

  7. HIS will is the hush of the heretic: “For so is the will of GOD, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men”

  8.  HIS will is the forbearance of hardship: “Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of GOD commit the keeping of their souls to HIM in well doing, as unto a faithful CREATOR.”

  9. HIS will is the only pathway to Heaven: “And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of GOD abideth for ever.”

  10.  HIS will is the DNA of the DIVINE: “For whosoever shall do the will of GOD, the same is MY brother, and MY sister, and mother.”

If you will, take these as ten steps: “To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you”
