Frankenstein's of Faith

December 5

“… they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto HIM which died for them, and rose again.”  2 Corinthians 5:15

“The key which unlocks real living is held by the SPIRIT of GOD”

Is your life a living death?  If you are living for anyone or anything other than JESUS CHRIST, the resounding answer from the Bible is: Yes!  Vast multitudes, if polled, would even go so far as to describe their lives as a ‘living hell’; in spite of the façade propped up in the flesh, and the fancy window dressing of human psychology.  Of course, for the unregenerate and those determined in their sin, there is no other way; but to us: “… who were dead in trespasses and sins”, it is an inexplicable and tragic thing for a professor of living faith to go about his\her life still shackled in introspect.  “And you hath HE quickened …” Why, you would think from a cursory glance at the garden variety churchgoer, that GOD was producing Frankenstein's of faith in some far off dungeon. “I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”   The Biblical model of life in CHRIST however, is … well, as different as life is to death.

“For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the SPIRIT shall of the SPIRIT reap life everlasting.”  The key which unlocks real living is held by the SPIRIT of GOD; and HE it is, WHO loans it to the one who will not attempt to jam it back into the lock of self will.  Misuse the key, and HE takes it back, effectively stagnating all practical outworking of HIMSELF … and as HE goes, so goes the essence of true life.  How sad it is to look out the door of life and see Brethren sitting in time out, pouting over their denial by HIM to full access back into the flesh.

“For ye are dead, and your life is hid with CHRIST in GOD.”  Key to the key here is the focus of our affection.  The begotten are beholden to the BEGETTOR.  The resurrection is the motivation, and only a fool lives for the dead; but those who insist toward that will indeed discover their existence a ‘living death’.  “Now if CHRIST be preached that he rose from the dead, how say some among you that there is no resurrection of the dead?”  If you sincerely believe HE rose from the dead, you’ll resist all temptation to do likewise regarding your old carnal nature.

“Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into JESUS CHRIST were baptized into HIS death?  Therefore we are buried with HIM by baptism into death: that like as CHRIST was raised up from the dead by the glory of the FATHER, even so we also should walk in newness of life.”

"Gentlemen, Christianity is true.  The man who doubts it discredits his own intelligence.  I have examined this matter for myself."
