The Trophy Case of Grace

December 28

“That in the ages to come HE might shew the exceeding riches of HIS grace in HIS kindness toward us through CHRIST JESUS.”  Ephesians 2:7

“… that all who look upon us might see HIS reflection; and long too, to have their life taken in redemptive love”

To the victor goes the spoils; and never, from time to eternity, will a more thorough victory be had than what was gained on Calvary.  The cruelest regimes down through the ages have tortured to death their captives with the ‘take no prisoners’ approach to warfare.  Not so however with the KING OF GLORY, for every life is to be preserved, and every heart won to righteousness.  Every soul saved is then fit with “the whole armour of GOD” to reenter the fray, and soldier for CHRIST on the side of faith.  “For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.  But after that the kindness and love of GOD our SAVIOUR toward man appeared”  Some, in spite of this, refuse to surrender; opting instead to fight to the death any and all attempts to be rescued from the inevitable outcome of their defiance and ultimate defeat.  “Or despisest thou the riches of HIS goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of GOD leadeth thee to repentance?”   They too will get one good look at the spoils of salvation they chose to pass on, just prior to being marched over the cliff with the entirety of Hell’s defeatist.

“Unto HIM be glory in the church by CHRIST JESUS throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.”  When HE said: “it is finished” from HIS cross, all who would be HIS became so; and the trophy case of grace began to display the precious souls HE had won.  “… which things the angels desire to look into.”  What a stupendous thought that the holy hosts surrounding HIS throne glance with awe at the booty of the BELOVED.  “That we should be to the praise of HIS glory, who first trusted in CHRIST.”  Like unto a Great War memorial, the LORD has left us here as well, that all who look upon us might see HIS reflection; and long too, to have their life taken in redemptive love, and their name inscribed with those bested through HIS blood.

“That the NAME of our LORD JESUS CHRIST may be glorified in you, and ye in HIM, according to the grace of our GOD and the LORD JESUS CHRIST.”
