The Stradivarius of the SPIRIT

December 20

“Wherefore, sirs, be of good cheer: for I believe GOD, that it shall be even as it was told me.”  Acts 27:25

“We must deny the obvious the dictate of our lives …”

The apparent is often no more than a pitiful mirage when held against the backdrop of Scripture.  We must deny the obvious the dictate of our lives, whenever it fails to measure up to the “T” of what has been told us of GOD.  “Jesse made seven of his sons to pass before Samuel. And Samuel said unto Jesse, the LORD hath not chosen these.”  As with the seven sons of Jesse, close, is not close enough, when it comes unto answered prayer and the specific will of GOD.  “trust also in HIM; and HE shall bring it to pass”  Refuse yourself the convenience of being a creature of time, and wait patiently on the LORD.  Oh what wretches we are, to settle for that used fiddle the Devil peddles in place of the Stradivarius of the SPIRIT.  “He staggered not at the promise of GOD through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to GOD; and being fully persuaded that, what HE had promised, HE was able also to perform.”  The challenge is clear; either believe GOD will keep HIS word, or come out with it, and call HIM a liar!  “GOD is not a man, that HE should lie; neither the son of man, that HE should repent: hath HE said, and shall HE not do it? or hath HE spoken, and shall HE not make it good?”

"Howbeit we must be cast upon a certain island.”  When we feel deserted, the kneejerk of the natural is to join in and desert ourselves.  Relax; the island you are on is but a waypoint en route to your real destination.  Don’t jump ship; but while at port, take on the stores of the SPIRIT, and the provision of prayer.  Let GOD fill your hold, and mend your sails, for soon it will be time to launch back out into the deep.  There will be no stowaways of salvation when that old ship of grace unloads her cargo of precious souls one day on the shores of Glory.  Sooner or later, you will walk the plank, having been found guilty of the sin of mutiny.  If you are in this state, come topside, and confess … take the release from the stench of your sin below, for the cruise of your dreams is but a repentance away.

“And now I exhort you to be of good cheer: for there shall be no loss …”
