Bull Market

December 2

“HE called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our LORD JESUS CHRIST.  Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught ..."                  2 Thessalonians 2:14-15

“We became the beneficiaries of a treasure which time is insufficient to calculate.”

How much do you value the investment of others in your life?  Our tendency is to inflate the expectations we hold toward our own investment strategy, whether it be on a personal or financial level; while depreciating the same which people extend toward us, either tacitly or actively.  When it comes to investing, the Bible is the book on the Bull Market, and CHRIST wrote it!  Eternity will bear out that the FATHER did not cast HIS SON to the wind when HE gave HIM to die upon Calvary.  Every seat one day around the banquet table of HIS marriage supper; and every occupied mansion in Glory will reveal the dividend reaped in HIS resurrection.  That manger of Bethlehem became the eternal nest egg for all who will embrace it.  “For HE hath made HIM to be sin for us, WHO knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of GOD in HIM.”  The kit and caboodle of all that GOD is, came to us in CHRIST.  Salvation, and its portfolio of power and grace, will turn out in the end to be not just the egg, but the entire nest to all who believe on HIM.  “Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after CHRIST.  For in HIM dwelleth all the fulness of the GODHEAD bodily”  Though HIS investment is as safe as the heavens, the dividend is ours to secure or squander.

“Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught …”  The proof of how we value our valuables is found in the measure of extent we’ll go to, to protect them.  “… the HOLY GHOST witnesseth in every city, saying that bonds and afflictions abide me.  But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the LORD JESUS, to testify the gospel of the grace of GOD.”  The vast strategy of the SAVIOR can be summarized as: POD (pay on death).  HIS cry of: “it is finished”, from the cross instantly moved all the fortunes of saving grace to our account.  “And unto one HE gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took HIS journey.”  We became the beneficiaries of a treasure which time is insufficient to calculate.  To each who’ll take possession, HE commands: occupy till I come, keep the vault, spread the wealth, and produce a dividend.

“… well done, thou good and faithful servant”

"It is hoped that but few will think the subject of it an improper one to be discoursed in the pulpit, under a notion that this is preaching politics instead of CHRIST.  However, to remove all prejudices of this sort, I beg it may be remembered that all Scripture is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.  Why, then, should not those parts of Scripture which relate to civil government be examined and explained from the desk, as well as others?"
