Pass the Mustard

December 19

“Therefore I say unto you, what things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.”  Mark 11:24

“… we come in beggars, and leave as joint heirs with ... GOD incarnate”

This doctrine on prayer is huge, but only for those who insist that GOD stand in the shadow of their mustard seed.  “And JESUS said unto them, because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.”  Sadly though, for most, who sit in the drive thru of Self King, and want it their way, this is a religious order of super size proportion.  ”And they were astonished out of measure, saying among themselves, who then can be saved?  And JESUS looking upon them saith, with men it is impossible, but not with GOD: for with GOD all things are possible.”  HIS menu offers that you: repent, believe on CHRIST, die to self, serve the LORD, live separate and holy, and come back often … this is the original ‘Happy Meal’! (cf. Psalm 144:15)  JESUS suggests in the New Testament however, that the vast majority will shun the diet of the DIVINE in deference to the take out of their sin; and bask their entire lives in unbelief, only to end their lunch break of licentiousness in Hell.  The repeated warnings of Holy Writ are come and dine with HIM while you can, for the alternative will be no picnic.

Wait to be seated, but when it occurs in saving grace, pray away, for nothing is forbid you or beyond HIS capability to pay.  What a meal deal, we come in beggars, and leave as joint heirs with the OWNER of all, GOD incarnate; thus to limit prayer is tantamount to limiting the infinite LORD HIMSELF.

“Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:”

At the ‘Whosoever Diner’, those are the words found on the top left of the menu.  The following are found in the fine print on the back cover:

  • "If ye shall ask any thing in MY name, I will do it.”

  • “If ye abide in ME, and MY words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.”

  • “And whatsoever we ask, we receive of HIM, because we keep HIS commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in HIS sight.”

You see, the meal is free, and the check is covered; but don’t be confused, this is no soup kitchen.  And don’t be surprised if at the end of your visit, you’re asked to stay and help seat others who will also come to sup with HIM.

“And if we know that HE hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of HIM.”

For Love of Country
John Fitzgerald Kennedy (1917-1963)
(Inaugural Address, January 20, 1961)
"And so, my fellow Americans -- ask not what your country can do for you -- ask what you can do for your country ... Let us go forth to lead the land we love, asking HIS blessing and HIS help, but knowing that here on earth GOD'S work must truly be our own."
