A Souldier for the SAVIOR

December 16

“And at the dedication of the wall of Jerusalem they sought the Levites out of all their places …”   Nehemiah 12:27

“… doesn’t it seem like such a terrible waste of time to be constantly smoking out the saints”

Are you at the ready to serve GOD, or does HE have to go looking for you when HE desires your help?  Where is a dedication of the DIVINE occurring, and you are still at the station?  “And the LORD GOD called unto Adam, and said unto him, where art thou?”  From the outset, the LORD has been running HIS search and rescue, seeking the lost, and commissioning the saved to then join HIM in the hunt.  “… and Saul the son of Kish was taken: and when they sought him, he could not be found.  Therefore they inquired of the LORD further, if the man should yet come thither. And the LORD answered, behold, he hath hid himself among the stuff.”  Reminiscent of Israel’s first king, most folks today are still absent at HIS roll call; hiding themselves in busy religious lifestyles, even hoping HE’LL replace their number with another’s. “the LORD hath sought HIM a man after HIS own heart …”  When we should be at attention, and minutemen for the MASTER; instead we are too often shepherds in sheep’s clothing, just out there feigning away the days with the flock, and making no pretense about it.  “And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before ME for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.”  In a world rapidly winding down, we should be ramping up, but doesn’t it seem like such a terrible waste of time to be constantly smoking out the saints, in the effort to git-er-dun for GOD?

“And whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all.”  The Christian soldier is a fusion of: volunteer, draftee, and conscript.  Robed in the righteousness of CHRIST, the warrior is dressed for success; and the soldier turns ‘souldier’, in the ongoing campaign to enlist others unto everlasting life.  Indeed, he\she is a spiritual marvel of bionic proportions; yet when his\her role is rightly understood and yielded to, he\she has no problem with the servant’s sackcloth as an outer garment of an inner spirit.

“Also I heard the voice of the LORD, saying, whom shall I send, and who will go for US? Then said I, here am I; send me.”

For Love of Country
Daniel Webster (1782-1852)
(U. S. Secretary of State to 3 different Presidents)
"The Bible came with them.  And it is not to be doubted, that to free and universal reading of the Bible, in that age, men were much indebted for the right views of civil liberty ...
Thank GOD!  I -- I also -- am an American!"

(Bunker Hill, on the Founding Father's regard for the Bible, June 17, 1843)
