The Science of the SPIRIT

August 4

"I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now."   John 16:12

"... a perfidious form of spiritual surmising has taken root in the vacuum of our truancy."

For the born-again believer, Saint School is a graded institute of HIGHER learning unlike any other.  "For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:"  HE is more anxious to teach, than we are to learn; but each bit of instruction must be assimilated and applied.  Too many are content to simply audit the course material.  Testing however, is critical, with daily field trips to earth, that we might demonstrate what we have learned.  The carnal curiosity toward Scripture, so rampant in the Church, has served no other purpose than to greatly hobble Christian education  in our time.  "But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our LORD and SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST."  The #1 inhibition to revival is Christian immaturity; a childlike refusal to learn, indicative of the smug saint who thinks he\she knows it all ... a Doctorate in Dumb, we might say!  "And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in CHRIST.  I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able."  The knowledge which GOD gives is the most exacting science; but a perfidious form of spiritual surmising has taken root within the vacuum of our truancy.

"And with many such parables spake HE the word unto them, as they were able to hear it."  Is the science of the SPIRIT unbearable to you?  "To whom also HE shewed HIMSELF alive after HIS passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of GOD:"  Are you guilty of stymieing the academic agenda of GOD for your life?

"Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it."  Knowledge is always planted in the soil of ignorance; but the tender seedlings of DIVINE guidance are choked out, where the weeds of arrogance and self-will thrive.  "LORD, my heart is not haughty, nor mine eyes lofty: neither do I exercise myself in great matters, or in things too high for me."  Want to move up in the world? ... then  take the humble yoke of the class dunce and learn of HIM.

"Take MY yoke upon you, and learn of ME ..."

For Love of Country
Abraham Lincoln  (1809-1865)
(Commander-in-Chief, Union Army)
"I do not doubt that our country will finally come through safe and undivided.  But do not misunderstand me ... I do not rely on the patriotism of our people ... the bravery and devotion of the boys in blue ... (or) the loyalty and skill of our generals ... but the GOD of our fathers ... I may not live to see it ... I do not expect to see it, but GOD will bring us through safe."

(just prior to the Battle of Gettysburg)
