Helmet Laws

August 17

"But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation."  1 Thessalonians 5:8

"... GOD is not recruiting armor bearers, but armor wearers."

Any combat vet will attest that night patrol, and firefights under the flares, are among the most horrific of all wartime experiences.  "The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light."  Though alcohol and assorted other toxins flow freely on battlefields to dull the reality of it all; bullets and bombs sober like a thousand coffee pots.  There is similarly, dear soldiers of CHRIST, an insidious inebriation among us, "who are of the day"; and in the command of sobriety to HIS own, GOD is not recruiting armor bearers, but armor wearers.  HE gains no glory in a life left half clad in the rear lines.  Armor is neither designed nor manufactured to be hung along the walls, it is made solely to be worn in battle; and yet our Churches have become little more than vast museums for visitors to come view the wax figures of past victors, and the armor they wore ... and should it not humiliate us unto repentance as present day warriors walk about naked of theirs, unsure where it is, or worse, what it is?  "Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of GOD, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand ... and having on the breastplate of righteousness; ... And take the helmet of salvation"

Hope helmets of salvation is the law of Heaven, with ample supply lining the shelves of HIS storehouse of grace.  JESUS has set HIS Church here to be a  dispensary of these articles, and commissioned every child of HIS a quartermaster.  Sadly, while multitudes form human gridlock at convenient stores to redeem $1 lotto tickets, their hope of eternal life goes into eternity unclaimed.  Meanwhile, and of greater ebriosity, is the tragedy that we, who are commissioned to issue the armor, are sitting on ours back at the Church; with all the vitals of Christian life exposed to attack and defeat.

"Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of GOD: I speak this to your shame."
