POW's of Prayer

August 14

"For he took away the altars of the strange gods, and the high places, and brake down the images, and cut down the groves:"  2 Chronicles 14:3

"The removal of sin is an invite to GOD ..."

Look all around us; who doesn't have, or has had, some "altar" of strange confidence, some "high places" of pride, some shameful "images", or some "groves" of disgrace?  Real revival tarries no longer, nor is its reach any further, than our willingness to rid ourselves of its impediments.  "And Asa did that which was good and right in the eyes of the LORD his GOD:"  Though King Asa was just a lad, and his robe and crown were not yet back from the royal tailor, he got right to work.  His unwillingness to indulge the reproach of his predecessor's neglect, returned GOD'S blessing to GOD'S people in short order.  The removal of sin is an invite to GOD; and if you find some place purged of its wickedness, take off your sandals, for you have discovered holy ground.  "... and the kingdom was quiet before him."  Great awakenings are birthed in the vacuum of evil's vacancy; capable of raising even the dead!  "took, broke, cut" ... all describe a frontal assault on sin; and Scripturally this proves to be the best, and most sure strategy to defeat it.  Many a well intentioned person though spends years in the frustration of trying to out flank sin, only to find themselves pinned down in the withering crossfire of its endless ammunition.  "And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will."  Charge out of that trench of sin's stronghold on your knees; and you'll find the foes ammo expended harmlessly overhead, as you overrun them at CHRIST'S command.

"For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through GOD to the pulling down of strong holds;) casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of GOD, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of CHRIST; and having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled."  Take the war to the enemy, capturing your POW's of sin and temptation in prayer; and deal with them then as Samuel did Agag, leaving not one to fight another day.

"And Samuel hewed Agag in pieces before the LORD in Gilgal."
