Sagaciously Saved

August 11

"Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew ..."  James 3:13

"True wisdom is not innate, it is imputed, the offspring of the SPIRIT of GOD unquenched."

Biblical wisdom is arguably the most underestimated commodity to which GOD avails us of.  Sadly, it is at the bottom of most of our aspirations; and usually enters our desire queue solely in those times of desperation or self-seeking.  In spite of this regrettable position among some of us, only salvation holds a loftier premium eternally, than the acquiring of "wisdom that is from above".  Though a genuine believer may have incidents becoming a fool, there is no such animal as a foolish Christian tenable from Scripture.  At the end of the day, a saved man is a wise man, and a wise man will "shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom."  JESUS CHRIST died, and rose again, that we be both saved, and sagacious.  As with every extension of grace, the acquisition of wisdom needn't be frustrating or elusive.

Firstly, there is a clear path to wisdom found in the pages of Holy Writ; and I offer these as waypoints for your map to personal pursuit toward this most precious commodity of Heaven.

a)   Accept the GIVER … "But of HIM are ye in CHRIST JESUS,   WHO of GOD is made unto us wisdom ..."

b)     Acknowledge the source … "For the LORD giveth wisdom: ..."

c)    Abhor the counterfeit … "This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish.  For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work."

d)   Ask the LORD … "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of GOD ..."

e)    Assess the value … "No mention shall be made of coral, or of pearls: for the price of wisdom is above rubies.  The topaz of Ethiopia shall not equal it, neither shall it be valued with pure gold."

f)    Apply the truth … "Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of MINE, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man ..."

Secondly, there is a concise practice of wisdom:

The Bible describes it as "first pure ..." [hagnos] from [hagios] chaste, virgin-like, free from defilement.  It is important to note that the wisdom, not the person, is pure.  That said however, when a person is yielded to GOD, & filled with HIS SPIRIT, he is then able to avail himself of GOD’S wisdom, thus exercising practical purity, i.e. a "walk in the SPIRIT" … and bearing HIS fruit (cf. Galatians 5:22-26).  True wisdom is not innate, it is imputed, the offspring of the SPIRIT of GOD unquenched.  While the composite of wisdom is multifaceted, its streambed flows from purity.  Let that dry up, and the drought of all else it is sets in.

"But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy."
