Malefactors of the Manger

April 26

"For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that JESUS CHRIST is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist." 2 John 7

"... these antichrists are ubiquitous ... and equally credible."

Like Santa Clauses in a pine tree farm, these antichrists are ubiquitous ... and equally credible.  No matter where we turn, it seems everyone wishes to chime in regarding their view of WHO they believe CHRIST to be, or worse, whether HE has ever been.  John's letters are not just the best treatise on antichrists, they are the only treatise on this in the New Testament; thus to learn of antichrist and his modus-operandi, we could say: John wrote the book.

"Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of GOD: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.  Hereby know ye the SPIRIT OF GOD: Every spirit that confesseth that JESUS CHRIST is come in the flesh is of GOD: And every spirit that confesseth not that JESUS CHRIST is come in the flesh is not of GOD: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world."  John describes these deceivers as one dimensional, denying the virgin birth ... sound familiar?  Many an entire assembly or denomination, could be accurately portrayed as: The First Church of Antichrist; if for no other reason than their stance on how JESUS CHRIST came to dwell among us. "And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, ..."   It must be pointed out that HIS Messianic role, and DEITY, is really what is under attack: "... GOD was manifest in the flesh, ..."  and of no surprise, for if they abide under the delusion of DEITY'S death, it takes with it the wages of sin as well (cf. Romans 6:23).  A babe in a manger is of no threat, except HE be the ONE WHO created the manger ... and if that be true, it holds significant implications!

"Whosoever therefore shall confess ME before men, him will I confess also before MY FATHER which is in heaven.  But whosoever shall deny ME before men, him will I also deny before MY FATHER which is in heaven."  All will ultimately land on one side of eternity's final court, to either deny or ascribe their CREATOR HIS rightful place.  Confession is the key ... WHO do you confess HIM to be?

"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the LORD JESUS, and shalt believe in thine heart that GOD hath raised HIM from the dead, thou shalt be saved."

"The more profoundly we study this wonderful Book, and the more closely we observe its divine precepts, the better citizens we will become and the higher will be our destiny as a nation."
