Revival: Day Seven

... I will spue thee out of MY mouth."      Revelation 3:16

Laodicea, not hot (saved); not cold (openly agnostic); but lukewarm, a nauseous imitation of the real deal!

"Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: ..."  Herein is the obvious implication that these folks had successfully and completely ousted CHRIST from their gatherings.  The HEAD was severed from the body leaving only the ghoulish, spiritless mannequins, which made the LORD sick and longing for their salvation.  How indicative of our day, whole facades teeming with individuals embalmed with the lukewarm fluid of self-sufficiency .. dead in sin and dead to JESUS CHRIST.  They said they were rich, but indeed bankrupt where it mattered most.  These foolish and arrogant souls were content to build religious houses on the sunny beaches of sin, yet indifferent and even defiant to the notion of judgment's flood, imminent to wipe away all of man's sandcastles of self-righteousness.  Vive must precede revive was our LORD'S message to Laodicea!

"How sad that all seven of the once great churches of Asia Minor are non-extant:

  • Ephesis lost her heart for GOD
  • Smyrna lost her convictions
  • Pergamos lost her doctrine
  • Thyatira lost her morals
  • Sardis lost her credibility
  • Philadelphia lost her passion
  • ... and Laodicea was left with nothing to lose

What an incredible synopsis of the church woes in our day!    Our National sin crisis can be traced right back to our door.

"He that hath an ear, let him hear what the SPIRIT saith unto the churches."  These words from our LORD make up the common denominator, and common call to repentance among the seven letters ... And the importance and urgency of revival is underscored by John from the outset of the Revelation: "Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand."  Revelation 1:3

Will we be the generation who sit idly by in our stained glass gallery and watch this one nation under GOD implode with sin?

I conclude day seven as I began in the introduction: 'LORD, send in the tears'

Revival Question # 7: Are you truly born again (saved)?

Day Seven of revival begins by being born again.

Memorize: "Not every one that saith unto ME, LORD, LORD, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of MY FATHER which is in heaven."  Matthew 7:21
