Revival: Day Four

... because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel"  Revelation 2:20

The Bible is clear that believers are to stand for right and confront sin:  (Matthew 18:15-17; Galatians 2:11-16; Acts 5:1-11)  These passages and others are powerful examples of a divine intervention program, if you will.

The casual mindset toward sin in the church is renounced in the strongest of terms by Paul and JESUS ... two of the chief contributors to Scripture!

"It is reported commonly that there is fornication among you, and such fornication as is not so much as named among the Gentiles, that one should have his father's wife.  And ye are puffed up, and have not rather mourned, that he that hath done this deed might be taken away from among you.  For I verily, as absent in body, but present in spirit, have judged already, as though I were present, concerning him that hath so done this deed, In the name of our LORD JESUS CHRIST, when ye are gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our LORD JESUS CHRIST, To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the LORD JESUS."  1 Corinthians 5:1-5

"But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in ME, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.  Woe unto the world because of offences! for it must needs be that offences come; but woe to that man by whom the offence cometh!  Wherefore if thy hand or thy foot offend thee, cut them off, and cast them from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life halt or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet to be cast into everlasting fire.  And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire.  Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, That in heaven their angels do always behold the face of MY FATHER which is in heaven."  Matthew 18:6-10

This reluctance in Thyatira to confront sin had emboldened this Jezebel to introduce and promote both physical and spiritual fornication.  Like her namesake suggests, she was brazen and shameless in her hussy activities ... And to the DIVINE chagrin of JESUS CHRIST HIMSELF her sin was active and spreading right under HIS church’s nose.

  • Smyrna was near Satan’s synagogue
  • Pergamos was at Satan’s throne
  • Thyatira embraced the depths of Satanic morality

Though extremely controversial, the increasing leadership roles for women in the world is alarming … its spillover into the church beyond alarming, it is a-biblical.  The rare and brief occasions of female leadership we find in Scripture were usurped and always during a period of national and spiritual decline.  This unfounded effort for equality so predominant in our day should be moot seeing GOD has already equalized the sexes (Galatians 3:26-28) … while still insisting on distinction, rank, & order, to maintain function in families and every area of culture beyond family, especially HIS Church.

The subtle and ungodly feminist movement traceable as far back as Eve is infiltrating today’s church; and as at Thyatira, Jezebel, though she be dead, yet speaketh!  One need not look much beyond the dress and demeanor of the modern church-woman to verify the Thyatira syndrome is alive and well. (Isaiah 3:16-23; Titus 2:5; 1 Timothy 2:9-10)  The moral fabric of the church today is shocking.  It is perpetrated by immodest, indiscreet women and applauded by immoral, ungodly men.

Beloved, you can rest assured that revival will not spawn in the cesspool of immorality!

"In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.  Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection.  But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.  For Adam was first formed, then Eve.  And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.  Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety."  1 Timothy 2:9-15

Revival Question # 4: Are you immodest ... immoral?

Day Four of revival begins when we abhor that which is evil.

Memorize: "For this is the will of GOD, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication:  That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour;  1 Thessalonians 4:3-4
