Revival: Day Five

" ... thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead"   Revelation 3:1

Sardis was living in the past, 'The Church of the Whitewashed Sepulcher' riding on reputation rather than regeneration.  The Christian's life however, is to be dynamic, not static.  These in Sardis had devolved into a group of religious zombies, and for the most part playing church … a virtual Christian museum save a curator or two.

"Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone." James 2:17

"JESUS Himself exhorted those who were left in Sardis and who were saved to: "be watchful"  Revelation 3:2 ... yet we in our day lull about on hammocks of Hell while, souls perish, sin propagates, self dominates, and the SAVIOR is again betrayed by HIS own.

"And HE cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, what, could ye not watch with ME one hour?  Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.  HE went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O MY FATHER, if this cup may not pass away from ME, except I drink it, THY will be done.  And HE came and found them asleep again: for their eyes were heavy.  And HE left them, and went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words.  Then cometh HE to HIS disciples, and saith unto them, sleep on now, and take your rest: behold, the hour is at hand, and the SON of MAN is betrayed into the hands of sinners."  Matthew 26:40-45

Revival Question # 5: Are you a wax figure ... masquerading as a Christian?

Day Five of revival begins with genuine, living faith.

Memorize: "Thou believest that there is one GOD; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.  But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?"  James 2:19-20
